Selling giclée reproductions at a lower price point widens your audience without competing with the original. It's how independent artists build recurring revenue between commissions.
The trick is doing it properly: a colour-managed master file, a fixed edition size, hand-numbering, signature, certificate of authenticity, and consistent paper choice. That's the whole workflow we run in-house.

Scan the original
3D scan of the original artwork produces a colour-managed master file we archive for future runs.

You approve a physical test print on your chosen paper. This becomes the reference.

The full edition is printed to match the reference — same paper, same profile, same ink batch where possible.

Sign & number
You sign and number each print. Certificates are printed alongside if requested.
How Editioning Works
From original to numbered edition, end to end.
Every limited edition starts with the master file. We scan your original on the 3D flatbed — up to 3m × 2m at 1200 DPI — and colour-match the file against the artwork in front of us. You then approve a physical test print on your chosen Hahnemühle paper, and that proof becomes the reference every print in the edition is matched to.
Next you fix the edition size — 10, 25, 50 or 100 are the standard runs. Smaller editions keep each print rare and support a higher price per print; larger editions suit lower price points and higher volume. Whatever number you choose, we hold the master file and honour it: once an edition is set, that's the edition.
Prints are then produced to match the reference — same paper, same profile — before being hand-numbered (4/25, 5/25 and so on) and signed by you. Certificates of authenticity can be printed alongside, carrying your details, the edition size, the paper and the printing date, so every buyer knows exactly what they own.

Open vs Limited
Open editions, limited editions — and how to price both.
A limited edition is a promise: a fixed number of prints, numbered and signed, with no more once it sells through. An open edition makes no such promise — unnumbered prints produced for as long as the image sells. Neither is better; they do different jobs, and many artists run both from the same master file.
A common structure is one signed limited edition at a collector price alongside an open edition at an accessible one. The limited run protects the value of the original and rewards early buyers; the open run earns steadily at volume. We advise on edition size and pricing based on the price of your original.
